"content": "Polish manufactured wbp akm type rifle for the USA market semiautomatic only, what is called ak47 is almost always actually a akm, basically akm stands for automatic Kalashnikov rifle modernized model. Akm was actually the original idea as earlier guns were made of heavily milled steel receivers ak 47 type 2 for example is milled steel receiver very strong but very heavy, the ak47 was designed to built using the stamping technology the Soviet union had acquired from nazi Germany however they struggled until 1956ish where the western world actually seen the Kalashnikov pattern for first in the streets of the Hungarian revolution in small numbers this brings us to the akm model, akm has stamped 1.0 mm spring steel receiver with rails for the bolt welded inside it, the barrel of the rifle is press fit with a 10 ton press into a forged steel trunnion whitch has the rear sight attached to top of it and a slot for the gas piston of the bolt carrier to pass through it the trunnion is then fitted to the receiver and a large pin is installed holding most of the rifle together. This is actually not a easy task as many precise gauges and special tools are required to build the rifle contrary to common belief. The akm pattern is then finished by installing the lead rivets for the trigger and springs they must be flexible as the ak rifle is designed to flex under stress. The rifle functions on a long stroke piston action whitch was inspired by the m1 garand rifle of the us army it has no design shared from the ww2 German stg44 of rumor. Akm was chambered in 7.62x39 whitch use for standard ball rounds a 123 grain .311 inches bullet and a tapered steel case. The 7.62x39 was developed before the ak rifle, after a experience fighting a German unit that was equipped with stg44 the Soviet union decided they were going to develop a shorter less recoiling round after witnessing the stg44 equipped unit breaking through a Soviet line by themselves. The final rifle that came from the project was the legendary ak 47 then became the akm until 1974 when the ak74 was developed and is still in use today ",
