In it there is a short blip about Hemingway having bet his friends he could write a short story in just six words. Of course they laughed at him. There was no way they believed he would be able to convey the depth of a full narrative. It's not enough words to describe an eyelash. But Hemingway did it. He wrote that six word story and even gave it emotional impact. Deep, moving, thought provoking, empathy inducing impact. <br /><br />\"For sale: baby shoes. Never worn.\"<br /><br />It's a truly heartbreaking story.<br /><br />So many lessons to be unravelled with this but let's talk about constraints/limits.<br /><br />Scarcity can shape creativity. <br /><br />When Kristy was little she dreamed of owning a Barbie Dream House. She had seen the commercial several times on their one tiny four channel tv. She knew her parents couldn't afford it, heck she even believed Santa couldn't afford it. But the pull of that Barbie House was strong and when she notice some perfectly good cardboard boxes in the dumpster near her apartment, she took them home. In her bedroom, which also was her parent's room, she cut out windows and a front and back door, she made a roof, built mattresses and used a scrap of fabric for a bedspread. <br />It was nothing like that Barbie Dream House in the commercial but she was proud of her creation. And she had so much fun making it. <br /><br />Scarcity can shape creativity.<br /><br />When you feel fenced in by the long list of things you see limiting your progress/forward momentum/attaining your goals/getting out of debt etc...
