Or does one have to have the upper hand over the other? I'm thinking of the differences between men and women. I am inclined to think that we are equal, but have very different strengths and weaknesses, and therefore different roles to play. I think that because these strengths are different in each couple, that begs to argue that we are equals and one gender should not try to control the other (and I refrain from saying men should not control women because I know full well that there are many women who control their men).

For example, in general women are generalized as the artful ones, they are the decorators of their homes, cook for the family, and colorful. However in my marriage, although I do have an artistic spirit, I'm not very good at interior design. However I can see other people's houses or pictures and be strongly drawn to that setup, but I struggle to look at an empty room and come up with ideas on how to make the space look great. So my husband is in charge of the decorating. I do work with him though, and if there's something that I don't really care for, we usually agree.

Some women can't cook to save their lives, and their men either step up to take that over or... They go out for food all the time. Sometimes men are the heavy shoppers, and the women are more frugal. There are so many variables in any relationship that, even though there are generalizations which are often true, almost every couple will have at least one aspect that is different from the stereotypes.

I believe that the broadest and often most accurate generalization is that women tend to be more earthy and natural, and men are more industrial, and mechanical. This is obviously not 100% accurate, but in this world how many things are? Religions believe that they are but is there any way to actually prove them without faith? I don't think so.

So, where am I going with this? I see a lot of imbalance between the sexes. We even say, it's the \"Battle of the Sexes\". But I believe that male and female should work in harmony together, not fight against each other. Just as people with different political opinions should be able to converse together and respect each other without wanting to harm the other emotionally or physically. The patriarchy is not the answer, but neither is a matriarchy. Both are equally unappealing to me. There might be more men in leadership positions because men are more naturally inclined to lead. But that doesn't mean he's patriarchal. If he's married and he trusts his wife, doesn't it stand to reason that he would go to her for advice? Women shouldn't be fighting their instincts to care and nurture just to feel like they are overthrowing the patriarchy. In the same breath, if a woman doesn't have those strong motherly instincts, and instead feels more valuable working or leading then she should be able to pursue that. This is why people should be elected for what they stand for and what their goals are, not the color of their skin, or how much they virtue signal. I have no problem voting for a woman if I agree with her values and what she is saying she'll do. However, I think our whole system of running for offices is a complete farce because you can't get anywhere without money. In this digital age, you should be able to just get your message out there and not spend thousands to billions of dollars on advertising.
