My goal is to make the largest possible single transistor solid state Tesla coil. <br /><br />This particular Tesla coil is driven by a single transistor. The general concept is the same, however the driving circuits are different. In a traditional Tesla coil, high voltage AC is used and stepped up to produce the electromagnetic effects desired. <br /><br />In this circuit, simple low voltage DC is fed into a transistor, and the primary coil rapidly charges and collapses around the secondary coil, which induces the electromagnetic field.<br /><br />The output and the range of this type of coil is a function the frequency of DC pules fed into the base of the transistor and the peak DC voltage being fed into the collector of the transistor. <br /><br />The end result on the secondary is a plasma beam of several thousand volts, somewhere in the lower MHZ range. <br /><br />I plan on doing much more with this coil and it's variants, I may even offer kits and full models in the future so stay tuned!<br /><br />This isn't exactly \"free energy\" or anything like that, however this demonstrates how far of an efficiency gap there is with today's electronics. <br /><br />Much more detail to come!
