"content": "<p>I’ve been working on a <a href=\"https://techhub.social/tags/freebsd\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>freebsd</span></a> from scratch blog post series and was going to skip right over Xorg (preferring <a href=\"https://techhub.social/tags/wayland\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>wayland</span></a> and <a href=\"https://techhub.social/tags/sway\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>sway</span></a>)…and then I heard about <a href=\"https://techhub.social/tags/NSCDE\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>NSCDE</span></a> - a reimplementation of <a href=\"https://techhub.social/tags/Solaris\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>Solaris</span></a> <a href=\"https://techhub.social/tags/CDE\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>CDE</span></a> look-and-feel via <a href=\"https://techhub.social/tags/fvwm\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>fvwm</span></a></p><p>Thanks to work by Christian Moerz, it was a snap. Literally `pkg install Xorg nscde` a change to my .xinitrc and I was up in a pastel bliss again. Run <a href=\"https://techhub.social/tags/interlisp\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>interlisp</span></a> on it is a beautiful joy. </p><p>I was so impressed AND I got to avoid abandonware security holes and bit rot— so I sent some librepay love. It’s a great project!</p>",
