This is one that they killed.<br />2:10<br />So instead of hearing the Word of the Lord that came through Zechariah, they eventually murdered Zechariah and continued even after the Restoration on their apostate journey<br />2:22<br />all the way to the arrival of Messiah, whom they rejected, and beyond that through human<br />2:27<br />history until now and until the future when they will be saved.<br />2:33<br />That is yet to come. Just a broader view; this particular section--12, 13 and 14--probably has no equal in the Old<br />2:43<br />Testament for its scope. It is one of those prophetic passages that you just find rising above all others in terms<br />2:53<br />of the breadth of what it covers. The actual events are world-embracing in these three chapters.<br />3:01<br />It includes the world confederacy that forms against Israel and Jerusalem.<br />3:08<br />It includes a prophecy of the victory of God's people empowered by the Lord, and then the conviction of Israel as a nation by the Spirit of God--the restoration of the gospel as they<br />3:22<br />look on Christ, and the one they rejected becomes the one they now acknowledge as their<br />3:28<br />Lord and Savior; the cleansing of the hearts of the nation; the purging of the land from idolatry; the elimination of false prophets; the time of Tribulation is here; the time<br />3:38<br />of Jacob's trouble; the partial success of the nations invading Israel and besieging<br />3:45<br />Jerusalem; the Second Coming itself; the appearance of Messiah as He comes for His people, rescues<br />3:51<br />them, saves them, establishes the messianic Kingdom, punishes the ungodly nations and<br />3:57<br />all the ungodly in the world, establishes His throne, and has a feast to celebrate that.<br />4:04<br />It is just a massive amount of eschatological information that is touched on by this prophet,<br />4:12<br />Zechariah, in this section. Perhaps a simple little phrase is the key to it, and it's the phrase "in that day,"<br />4:20<br />"in that day." It appears sixteen times in 12, 13, and 14, and refers to the Day of the Lord, the Day<br />4:30<br />of the Lord. The prophets talked about the Day of the Lord, the day when the Lord establishes His reign,<br />4:36<br />the day when the Lord judges. The Day of the Lord is an eschatological term that has to do with judgment.<br />4:43<br />There is the day when God allows man to have his time on earth.<br />4:49<br />There is a day when God allows Satan to be the prince of the power of the air, the god of this world.<br />4:55<br />But there's coming the Day of the Lord when He intervenes with worldwide judgment, and<br />5:01<br />that is the day that is referred to sixteen times as in that day, the day when Christ<br />5:08<br />returns as judge and Savior to destroy the ungodly and to establish His glorious Kingdom<br />5:15<br />for those who belong to Him. Now as we look at verses 1 through 13:9, that whole section that I read earlier to you,<br />5:26<br />I just want to focus on four aspects. We'll break this outline into four parts: the siege of Israel, the shielding of Israel,<br />5:34<br />the sorrow of Israel, and the salvation of Israel.
