"content": "<p>I grew up in the country with the highest number of murders of trans people, Brazil. Trying to remember the first time I thought about it, I was backpacking in the south of the country in 2005 and, during a round of mate, I heard a sad story about a trans person who had committed suicide, because she lived in a small town in Rio Grande do Sul and family rejection and social bullying had resulted in this tragedy.</p><p>I'm mentioning this story because I was using Twitter for 17 years, but I don't remember as many profiles with creative content as I'm seeing now, after 3 years of being more active in Mastodon, and also the subject has never been as present as it is on my timeline here - and I used to follow profiles on social media of the Brazilian LGBTQ community.</p><p>That said, I have to admit that I'm still pretty ignorant on the subject and, if you're one of the creative and wonderful people who light up the Fediverse, could you share some references (articles, videos or books) on the subject so I can educate myself? </p><p>I have the impression that, although it's not perfect, the Fediverse creates a safer environment for some minorities to express themselves.
