And everyone with a history in <a href=\"https://social.makerforums.info/tags/3DPrinting\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a> continues to bring up the Anet A8 as a cautionary tale, and would recommend against Anet for actively disabling a critical safety feature and burning down people's houses as a result.</p><p>Qidi has decided to one-up Anet by not only selling printers with a critical design flaw that even many novices know not to make, but then also doubling down and <a href=\"https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/1jnuju1/rqiditech3d_permanently_banned_me_for_warning/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">permanently banning a customer from their subreddit after he reported that they had burned down his house</a>.</p><p>I used to recommend Qidi to experienced folks looking for an upgrade path, based on the quality of prints from my Qidi X-Max 3, and the level of support they provided me during the warranty period.</p><p>But the Qidi Plus4 using an SSR to control power to the heated bed and having no thermal fuse? Even I knew when I first used an SSR for a mains-powered bed in a homebrew 3D printer that I needed a permanently-bonded thermal fuse on the bed, because SSRs are lifetime-limited parts that fail conducting, and not using a thermal fuse is a fire waiting to happen.</p><p>Not including a thermal fuse isn't just a rookie mistake, it's engineering malfeasance. With this administration I don't expect to have a functional CPSC any more, which is a crying shame.
