"content": "<h2>Still here a year later</h2><p>A year ago I received a stem-cell transplant to ward off the return of acute myeloid leukemia. I just left my one-year followup at UCHealth in Aurora, Colorado.</p><p>Not the results I expected, but we’re coming up with a new plan. No details yet, but soon. </p><p>My cancer diagnosis came a few months after I retired in 2023, I started writing online about my experience as a way of coping with the situation and keeping family and friends informed. Early in 2024, I pulled those words, thoughts and impressions together and published an ebook and paperback for anyone who might be able to learn from them.</p><p>My ebook – “That time I had cancer…” – is free from today through November 11 (and almost free beyond that). You can find it on <a href=\"https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B00XTC54FW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">my Amazon author page</a>.</p><p>The same content and more is <em>always free</em> at The Smith Compound.
