"content": "<p>In continuation of the post from 04.03.2024, I still have to post a small text about blockchain in simple words, as simple as possible.</p><p>Why blockchain?</p><p>So, blockchain is a cryptographically secured distributed ledger. It protects us from someone stealthily duplicating their record of something, without having to trust any special regulator - everyone trusts everyone else. That's why you can record anything on the blockchain that can be recorded with a list at all. A logical application is to record ownership of land, a diploma or a prescription for a drug. Some of these ideas are brilliant (no joke). It's convenient to register a flat transaction in 10 minutes instead of 10 days; it kind of already works that way in Georgia. Or in a pharmacy you can check if a person has a prescription by poking it into the database, and the person knows for sure that no regulator can take away the prescription from him and he won't lose the paper with it. And the pharmacist knows for sure that the prescription is not fake - he can see who issued it. The employer can automatically check the CV for some certificate or diploma, and will be sure that they are real.</p><p>Or imagine buying a song directly from its creator. There are no intermediaries, the commission is minimal, he gets your money immediately, and you automatically get the rights to it. Everyone can always check that such-and-such address from such-and-such musician bought this song and can listen to it. Or watch a film. Or read a book. You don't need any Mikhalkov with his RAO, what a miracle! Everyone knows without him what belongs to whom and how much is due to whom. Moreover, not only how much is owed, but it is already listed and paid, and everyone is happy - the composer, the author of the text, the producer. Except for the publishers, who have become redundant.<br />Governments and regulators can remove the functions of registration and verification of anything. And the level of anonymity can be changed by consensus of the parties. All transactions are very fast and there is no Visa or MasterCard system: a Moroccan buys a film from a Brazilian directly, bypassing customs and banks! And no one can take it away either. It's a fairy tale.</p><p>Suddenly, no notary, or indeed any government offices, are required to certify documents. You can vote at home, and you can always check who got your vote - it will be credited to your candidate, and the director of some Dagestani school will not be able to steal the vote of a simple shepherd after the counting.</p><p>So with everything: patents, permits, marriages and divorces, passports, powers of attorney - without tricks, forgeries and black realtors. You won't have to carry your card to the polyclinics! If you give your password to the right doctor, he can immediately see not only your medical history, but also some genome in addition - in any hospital in any Thailand!</p><p>That's the value of technology, not the ability to make up a bunch of tokens that nobody needs and sell them, fucking up all the buyers. In the case of the major cryptocurrencies, that's exactly what works right.
