"content": "<h2>2025 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge</h2><p>For the second year in a row, SADC produced the audio description that was provided to all of the finalists of the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, a program feature starting last year. As before, no specific information about any of this years <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOhZ4i5Tnk3j4GB0aR8p8vHM0guZAfCNI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fifteen finalist short films</a> was provided to SADC prior to our receiving them, and we delivered Blind-reviewed, sound edited and mixed AD audio tracks for all of them within nine days. At the same time, winners also receive exposure and introductions to entertainment industry professionals and executives.</p><p>This was the first year in which finalist films were provided professional AD in advance of the winners being announced. Given the contest’s constraints, the description had to happen fast and under secrecy. In April, 2025, the series won <a href=\"https://winners.webbyawards.com/2025/video-film/series-channels/diversity-equity-inclusion-belonging-series-channels/324730/renegades\">a Webby Award for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (Series or Channel)</a>.</p><p>Hosted by award-winning musician and disability rights champion <strong>Lachi</strong>, <strong><em>Renegades </em></strong>premiered Tuesdays, October 1 – October 29 on the <strong><em>American Masters</em></strong> <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1rKy4WiZzY&list=PLH8F0Cu5Vx8KlS0R7Juede9w3AVv8Lr9G&pp=iAQB\">YouTube channel</a>, <a href=\"https://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/shorts/renegades/\">PBS.org</a> and the <a href=\"https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&l=en&o=4220543-1&h=3185803667&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pbs.org%2Fpbs-app%2F&a=PBS+App\">PBS App</a> in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.</p><p>Overall accessibility for the series, including ASL interpretation, captioning, and descriptive transcript, was coordinated and created by <a href=\"https://d-pan.org/\">D-PAN</a>, the Deaf Professional Artist Network.</p><p>For the AD production, <a href=\"https://adcomrade.wordpress.com/tag/cheryl-green/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cheryl Green</a> was the project lead, as well as writer, along with <a href=\"https://adcomrade.wordpress.com/tag/oliver-baker/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oliver Baker</a>. In April, 2025, the series won <a href=\"https://winners.webbyawards.com/2025/video-film/series-channels/diversity-equity-inclusion-belonging-series-channels/324730/renegades\">a Webby Award for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (Series or Channel)</a>.</p><p>Hosted by award-winning musician and disability rights champion <strong>Lachi</strong>, <strong><em>Renegades </em></strong>premiered Tuesdays, October 1 – October 29 on the <strong><em>American Masters</em></strong> <a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1rKy4WiZzY&list=PLH8F0Cu5Vx8KlS0R7Juede9w3AVv8Lr9G&pp=iAQB\">YouTube channel</a>, <a href=\"https://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/shorts/renegades/\">PBS.org</a> and the <a href=\"https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&l=en&o=4220543-1&h=3185803667&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pbs.org%2Fpbs-app%2F&a=PBS+App\">PBS App</a> in honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.</p><p>Overall accessibility for the series, including ASL interpretation, captioning, and descriptive transcript, was coordinated and created by <a href=\"https://d-pan.org/\">D-PAN</a>, the Deaf Professional Artist Network.</p><p>For the AD production, <a href=\"https://adcomrade.wordpress.com/tag/cheryl-green/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cheryl Green</a> was the project lead, as well as writer, along with <a href=\"https://adcomrade.wordpress.com/tag/oliver-baker/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oliver Baker</a>. "en": "<h2>Buffalo Sonnet: A digital comic book inspired by San Juan Hill.</h2><p><a href=\"https://lincolncenter.org/feature/legacies-of-san-juan-hill/buffalo-sonnet-v2\">Buffalo Sonnet</a> is a digital comic inspired by the historic San Juan Hill neighborhood, created by writer and illustrator Kamau Ware and Commissioned by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Buffalo Sonnet is an artistic meditation on the Black experience in that historic Manhattan neighborhood. The title plays on the naming of the veteran Black infantrymen, “Buffalo Soldiers,” that settled there at the turn of the 20th century, after fighting in the Spanish-American War. The piece tells the story of a vibrant community that was dispersed, yet has left a powerful shadow in the city’s history. It is emblematic of the larger story of the African diaspora in New York City: how Black communities have been displaced from their neighborhoods since the 17th century, yet have proved resilient.
