"content": "<p>had to boot up a 13yo laptop to find a file I wanted from undergrad</p><p>Challenges:<br />* I actually knew where it and the charger were which I feel is impressive since I've moved with it eight times including a cross-country move years after I'd stopped using it as my primary machine<br />* it booted fine which, it was a ThinkPad so I expected that, but I'm still a little impressed<br />* I had to figure out how to boot from hard drive instead of USB because past-me loved inserting live USBs but also had a data storage USB inserted when my flash-based hard drive ran out of space, and it's sort of stuck in there<br />* Windows was out of disk space and would not open the DE<br />* Kubuntu worked but default DE was Openbox and none of the associations for opening files with programs were working (luckily I still remember the names for Okular and Dolphin)<br />* Files I wanted were scattered randomly across Ubuntu, Windows 7, USB locations, in any folder of Documents, Downloads, home<br />* Only half the panes in the firefox upload file box worked</p>",
