Please light a candle for those we have lost last year that we know, and those we have lost that we don't know. </p><p>Ask Venus, the wanderer of transition (from morning to gone to night, from night to gone to morning, from the world of the living to the world of the departed to the world of living again, from existing as one being to existing as another), for guidance in these times when so much hate against us infuses the very fabric of our societies. Recognize the toll it takes on people to wake up every day and read major news outlets reporting on--and sometimes cheering on--people who want to eradicate you.</p><p>But, just as Venus disappears from view for a while, as they transition from night to morning, know that trans people too will always be here, no matter how many of us others try to destroy. We will always return, we will be forever blazing, just as the evening star or the morning star heralds the transition of one day to the next. Do not mess with the cycles of the cosmos.</p>",
