"content": "<p><a href=\"https://post.lurk.org/tags/introduction\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>introduction</span></a> <a href=\"https://post.lurk.org/tags/reintroduction\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>reintroduction</span></a> </p><p>Hi all, Roel he/him.</p><p>An artist and designer with an interest in computer networks, materiality of the internet, digital community infrastructure, DIY/DIWO approaches, FOSS culture.</p><p>You might know my work from the LowTech Mag's solar powered server project <a href=\"https://solar.lowtechmagazine.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" translate=\"no\"><span class=\"invisible\">https://</span><span class=\"\">solar.lowtechmagazine.com</span><span class=\"invisible\"></span></a></p><p>Currently pursuing a <a href=\"https://post.lurk.org/tags/PhD\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>PhD</span></a> in Interaction and Participatory <a href=\"https://post.lurk.org/tags/Design\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>Design</span></a> at Malmö University. As part of that research I work together with actors in the cultural sector to co-design alternative social media infrastructures with/for them. These are mostly based on fediverse applications, so I am also interested in aspects of <a href=\"https://post.lurk.org/tags/federation\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>federation</span></a> <a href=\"https://post.lurk.org/tags/governance\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>governance</span></a> <a href=\"https://post.lurk.org/tags/contentmoderation\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>contentmoderation</span></a> and more generally how to transition to and improve alternatives together etc. This space is far from perfect and in some cases insufficient but we need to start somewhere??</p><p>I'm a founding member of <a href=\"https://varia.zone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" translate=\"no\"><span class=\"invisible\">https://</span><span class=\"\">varia.zone</span><span class=\"invisible\"></span></a>, and also part of <a href=\"https://lurk.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" translate=\"no\"><span class=\"invisible\">https://</span><span class=\"\">lurk.org</span><span class=\"invisible\"></span></a>. With LURK we've been running a fediverse instance called post.lurk.org since 2018, for which I am happy to be one of the co-admins!
