"content": "The authors note is why I picked it up in the first place. Every history of the period I’ve tried to read before has been from someone who hates Victorians, and he clearly admires them. You’d think that’d be the bare minimum but that’s the state of academic history. Also (second pic) this book was written in 1988, I wonder how many, if any, years since then have seen no British soldiers die in action.",
