You could just as easily scale this analysis up to the global level or drill down into a specific organization. <br/><br/>Note: This is an approximate mapping. Most real-world entities inevitably perform the functions of multiple systems. For example, AIPAC formally functions as a System 1 entity which produces government policy outcomes. Informally, AIPAC events and functions serve as a System 2 information channel by bringing together donors who made their fortunes running other System 1 entities.<br/><br/>System of Interest: Network of Jewish organizations in the United States<br/><br/>Purpose of the system: Promotion and advancement of the system, those who identify with it, and those with whom the system identifies.This identity is based on a common origin, history, and culture-mission.<br/><br/>System 1: The primary production centers of communal and economic life:<br/>- Communal life: Individuals, families, neighborhoods, clubs, temples, etc.<br/>- Economic life: Businesses and industries which work to advance the wider system.<br/>- Prominent System 1 entities would be in Finance, Media, Entertainment, Law, Technology, Real Estate, Education, Government, etc. <br/><br/>System 2: The transfer mechanisms for resources and information between System 1 entities and System 3.<br/>- Community organizations, NGOs, and donor networks. Essentially these are the channels that bring together members of the different system 1 entities and provide a common forum.<br/>- Resources from the System 1 economic centers are directed to communal entities via charitable organizations and &#39;philanthropy&#39;<br/><br/>System 3: In a society-wide system, this function is going to be highly decentralized. Operational norms are going to be formed by narrative professionals like clergy, journalists, and educators.<br/>- A distinction between a system 1 entity (Mass Media like CNN) and a system 3 entity (Internal Media like TabletMag) is the audience.<br/>- In this context, Mass Media is a system 1 entity generating norms for export.
