"content": "
Me, I am still reading X-Files and right now my own personal fan fiction stuff in that fandom. I have these files on computer entitled 'Parts of Stories' and I have been reading my way through and marking the stuff that is mine (that I actually recognize as mine by my OCs and Mary Sue flavour) and the paragraphs and one liners that I copied from stories because I thought they were especially good and thought I might never get back to the entire story again or find it even when reading through the 8000 saved X-Files stories on computer. There are some bits that I actually cannot tell if they are mine or cribbed. I have a huge three ring binder filled with printouts of these things buried somewhere in closet. Maybe when I finish these files I will dig it out and see if the printouts show more distinction or marks of what is mine and what is not.
",

"content": "
You never really leave fandom but you no longer are hot and heavy and involved and people slip away and websites vanish and time passes and sometimes you gafiate to another fandom altogether but maintain a watching brief on the old one or, like me, keep saving any stories posted. I did that with X-Files from around 2002 till around 2012 when Ursula died and I found myself reading all my collected X-Files stories and was shocked to find that actually those early years stories were BETTER than most I had read in Starsky & Hutch or The Professionals. Not sure that is a true fact or that anyone else would think it but it just may be that I was more touched by the pairing and the stories and that the actual quality of the writing was subjective.
",

If you dig back to stories written while the show was still on the air they have a quality that cannot be replicated by someone younger writing twenty years later from fanon stories with tapes and the actors old or dead; than those who wrote white hot from lust and a new series and young actors you could follow in the media.
",

"content": "
a funny thing about fandom and lust and love for an actor in a specific role....the collected lines of description of Alex are juicy and wonderful which is why I grab them and try to hold on to them. Same with descriptions of Bodie and Doyle. So, over the course of all these years in fandom I have read bits of stories in other fandoms in which I do not find the actors at all attractive or compelling and the descriptions of them...written by smitten women...just ring so wrong in my ears...like I am looking at the actor they are swooning over and think..no way does that description fit anything about that guy. I think it is the same response one has to the men one's friends marry...you think...WHYYYYYYYY?????? So anyone not finding Nick Lea or David Duchovny sexy and attractive would find the over the top sticky descriptions of them a bit nauseating. 🙂
",
