No, we were not anywhere close to the affected zone, but, having lived through several earthquakes ourselves, we have a strong preference towards areas with low seismic activity. And that rules out a lot of places (for example, Vienna is beautiful and rather comfortable to live in, but it's surrounded by mountains).
The final list of requirements looked something like this:
- low theoretical chance of seismic activity,
- high standard of living (a *veeeery* vague point that's impossible to compare directly. Also very subjective),
- not worse than our previous lifestyle,
- infrastructure (cycling, public transport),
- playgrounds around,
- libraries,
- school, kindergarten,
- green around.

We've spent a bit over a month here — and so far Denmark keeps a "stellar" rating from me. (I wonder how will it change later on).
",
