I did a bad job this year of securing the vines on the trellis and they keep falling down in high winds so they aren’t entirely maintenance-free. They don’t get more water than nature but I do give a bit of compost in fall after they die back. Young leaves are “edible.”</p>",

"name": "maypop flower. The most striking aspect of the flower is it hundreds of filaments that point out from the center. The filaments are mostly lavender in color with a dark purple stripe, near the center of the flower and a few white stripes. The filaments become faded white towards the tips. the light is strong, so that the filament cast little black shadows on the leaves behind it. \nThe center is purple with large yellow hanging anthers that make it look like there is a connected yellow circle. The styles are dotted purple with yellow tips. ",
