The OSR 8 represents a significant international scientific collaboration, with contributions from over 120 scientific experts from Europe and around the world. This year’s report reveals an ocean facing record-breaking extreme events, including unprecedented marine heatwaves, an extreme phytoplankton bloom and increased warming. It also showcases several key innovations, including advanced wave analysis, and a promising way to extract thermal energy from the ocean during winter.
