One day I was walking along the road and stopped when I saw a cocky sitting on the wire fence chomping on a pine cone.</p><p>He (I'm not an expert in determining avian gender, but there was a vibe) stood to attention, checked me out, and then resumed chomping, as I clearly wasn't a threat to anybody.</p><p>Non-human social animals are good at this in a way that humans aren't. I like being clocked as benign, or at least harmless.</p>",
