Edité par Cicéron.\n\nDans ce texte fondateur, gardien essentiel de la doctrine épicurienne, vivant à une époque de violence et d'oppression, Lucrèce vise l'apaisement moral de l'homme en donnant la plus grande force persuasive à la parole philosophique salvatrice, celle qui mène au bien et éloigne des maux, qui guérit des peurs vaines - celle de la mort en particulier. Doctrine d'une richesse exceptionnelle et oeuvre littéraire majeure, ce poème se donne comme une oeuvre totale, où le vrai s'allie au beau. \n\nLa traduction de Bernard Pautrat propose une transposition à la fois précise et poétique, qui permet d'appréhender dans notre langue le style philosophique propre à Lucrèce.",
