I have to say I was dubious: I've never been convinced that students understand the area model deeply enough to rely so much on it here (why is x^2 a square?), nor by the static value of x implied by the tiles, and especially the double sided use for negatives (this I find more abstract background than concept of like terms). </p><p>Anyway, I tried it.
