Since then, many have found it more fruitful to use logistic classification: the observer weighs the factors, uses their sum to bias a coin, and flips the coin. </p><p>However, a student starting today would find the relevant information scattered around. "content": "<p>Back in 1996 I spent a month working with Horace Barlow (!) and he told me an interesting fact: after the war (I guess in the 1950s) he'd go to Soho in London to buy electronics discarded by the British military. He was particularly interested in boxes that contained a (fancy) photosensor aimed at a (cheap) light bulb. He explained why the British military had those boxes, and it's fascinating. Care to guess why? ( if you already know the answer, please hold your tongue as it may spoil the fun)</p>",
