Dreams as by-product of the mechanisms of cognition.</p><p>All previous dream theories, ancient and modern, start off by asking "What is the purpose of dreaming?", so it's pleasingly audacious to reply with "Whoa, wait a minute, why are you assuming that dreams have a purpose?"</p>",
