"content": "<p>I need to get this off my chest. One of the pretenses that ICE is using to exile people is a law that allows them to look up the police and court records for anyone they want. Even if a charge was dismissed by a judge or you paid your fine or did your sentence, if it's on your record anywhere and the agent feels it's "dangerous", they can unilaterally strip your residency status and "deport" you without any due process. This can include sitting in your car with a slight buzz (which could give you a DUI charge even if you're not driving) or smoking pot with your friend (which they'll probably call distribution of a Schedule 1 drug). Maybe even parking or speeding tickets. The charge could be dismissed, but if there's a clerical error and it isn't removed from the record systems, it's a time bomb.</p><p>In 2010-11, I worked for a company called Sypherlink that worked with FBI, DHS, and state courts and police depts to build software that extracted data from police and court systems and fed it to the FBI. Palantir was one of our major competitors. I'm the one that gave the FBI the keys to a large data feed in 2011. I thought that it was for preventing terrorism.</p><p>I didn't realize what it was being used for until 2019, when I met Cesar Lopez, a US Marine veteran who was exiled. I realized that the system I helped build may have led to him and others like him being exiled.</p><p>I don't know how I can help now, but I want to take these motherfuckers down somehow.</p>",
