RSS is the best.</p><p>I feel like the format of &quot;everyone posting about everything without any filter&quot; is, after all, irredeemable. It might be fine for people with a fairly generic worldview who have enough others agreeing with them on most things. Perhaps the latter condition is illusory (I certainly hope so), but some servers&#39; timelines suggest otherwise. And I just see so much stuff I don&#39;t want to see.</p><p>So, after all, I don&#39;t want it.</p><p>I don&#39;t know what a perfect format would be. Maybe something like:<br />- laser-focused on some specific topic,<br />- that I don&#39;t discuss much IRL,<br />- that doesn&#39;t provoke insanity in some way.</p><p>Or it should require that writing something takes more time than just typing the letters. Maybe LessWrong is a better fit in that regard. Or StackExchange.</p><p><a href=\"https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/Reddit\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>Reddit</span></a> was reasonably nice in retrospect. I&#39;ve had interesting arguments there. So, I&#39;ve removed all politics from my feed, tried reading it for a couple of days... And, like, it&#39;s still not good. It&#39;s barely interesting enough to make me scroll through when I&#39;m procrastinating.</p><p>For now, nothing beats <a href=\"https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/RSS\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>RSS</span></a> with read-it-later filtering.
