The sequence of the colours is 12 stitch-chains long (a single crochet plus a chain, which is Linen Stitch). I&#39;m going to call these L-stitches. And it so happens that the number of L-stitches that I managed to get in the circle was -- 60! A perfect division. Except I needed it to be off by one in order to get diagonal stripes rather than vertical stripes. But I started off at 60 anyway, working in a spiral rather than in rows.</p><p>And the stripes were DIAGONAL! What?<br />I counted the L-stitches. Still 60. What was going on?</p><p>It was because the nature of Linen Stitch, where you crochet into the chain-space of an L-stitch, rather than the stitch-part of an L-stitch, means that the alignment with the stitch below is off by half an L-stitch.
