Did <a href=\"https://mastodon.au/tags/history\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>history</span></a> at high school and having a passion for it I don’t think there was one time where I didn’t think and watch those <a href=\"https://mastodon.au/tags/USA\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>USA</span></a> shows and think there was something very bad about the <a href=\"https://mastodon.au/tags/USA\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>USA</span></a>. After working for <a href=\"https://mastodon.au/tags/dfat\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>dfat</span></a> in the early 90s and talking to guys who worked in <a href=\"https://mastodon.au/tags/washingtondc\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>washingtondc</span></a> these ‘fears’ did not abate. The <a href=\"https://mastodon.au/tags/propaganda\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>propaganda</span></a> fed to us for decades from the USA with the help of our government and media made many Australians complacent, believing an <a href=\"https://mastodon.au/tags/americandream\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>americandream</span></a> that most Americans don’t live. We are innocent and easily led. It is good to see people are starting to move away from it but it is weird having them telling me something I’ve noticed for years. As a reminder don’t go to the USA and don’t let your kids. There are so many wonderful places to visit on this planet the USA isn’t one of them.</p>",
