She met Ella Fitzgerald. Louis Armstrong taught her the twist. She lived in Paris in the 1960s mixing with artists and other creatives (omg, that would have been incredible). She was creating and producing very successful solo dance performances on stage in London at age 99.</p><p>Then she arrived back in Australia with 1 suitcase and not much else. A chance meeting with an exceptional Sydney modern dancer led to being introduced to the modern dance choreographers, dancers and film makers in Sydney, and that was the beginning of her most productive decade. That chance meeting was because the dancer saw her sitting at a cafe, recognised a dancer&#39;s &quot;being&quot;, and went to talk to her. Incredible.</p><p>So, anyway, at her memorial there were a number of well-known people from that world who told stories, sang songs, danced dances, cried and laughed. It included Aunty Delmae Barton (aboriginal elder and ex-opera singer) and her son William (world-renown didgeridoo player).
