Howrver disgusting that is. Ahoo’s resistance in Tehran istn just some sort of brave act of personal defiance. It is rather a radical confrontation with the machinery enforced by the state. Hers is a struggle against a ruling class that consolidates power by controlling and suppressing women's autonomy.</p><p>Marxist and feminist theorists have long argued that the oppression of women is neither incidental nor accidental but foundational to the capitalist and authoritarian structures that maintain power. Federici in Caliban and the Witch told us how the capitalist state depends on the subjugation of women’s labor and bodies to sustain its accumulation of wealth. She went on to trace this exploitation back to the witch hunts in Europe, where the control of women’s reproductive capacities and the enforcement of strict gender roles became essential to the rise of capitalist power. Then, Shulamith's dialectic of sex posits that patriarchy predates capitalism but is woven deeply into its logic where both systems rely on controlling women’s reproductive labour. The biological reality of pregnancy has been used as a pretext for male domination in so many cultures and countries around thr world. And this is what the capitalist structures exploited to maintain a divided labour force that funnels women into unpaid or low-paid work. This control over women’s bodies is thus not just a fucking bug in the system. Its not even a feature. Its a fucking requirement for capitalist functionality.</p><p>Say her fucking name.</p>",
