"content": "<p>still having a lot of fun with this bike. i've mentioned it before, surprisingly this 20\" wheel minivelo rides better than my mid-price 27.5\" wheel aluminum bike. my suspicion is that all that jazz about chromoly frame bikes with good geometry isn't just talk. </p><p>this bike is an interesting blend of oddball, slightly limited, but flexible, and surprisingly normal to ride. i'm not a strong or experienced rider, especially offroad, but i was really surprised how <em>sensibly rad</em> i could get on root-filled mountain bike paths, rock gardens, rollers, and even a few wooden features. </p><p>part of that might be the low standover height and the hornless seat. it makes it a lot easier to stand up, sit down, and lean the bike a lot, almost like a dropper post. kind of feels like riding moto offroad, where it makes sense to stand, legs bent, and counterweight or steer with your hips and balance.</p><p>i did about 40 miles of gravel through the woods, blue mtb trails, and paved paths this weekend and even when i ran out of gears or got up to ill-advised downhill, this was a really fun and competent companion. </p><p>it's a novel experience for something to be well built and solid, yet almost always a little sketch-feeling because of the small wheels and huge amount of leverage the BMX bars allow. </p><p>you get used to the steering once you realize it's actually not twitchy, just very responsive. it's very predictable and does exactly what you want it to, it just feels paranormally strange at first because of <em>just how fast</em> it changes direction. </p><p>looking at cyclemeter, i'm childishly tickled that one of those downhills was apparently 21mph, so i'm pretty close to where the gearing tops out :blobcatgiggle: </p><p>with the exception of minor finish issues, i'm still very impressed with this hater-proof, nice riding, uncommon bike. it's a really mature product considering it's made by a small company that i think only puts out a few hundred bikes a year. </p><p>and it fits in a hatchback without so much as removing a wheel. even packed for a week of camping. <br><br></p><p>p.s. the teal gel nail polish from the dollar store is actually a perfect match for the paint color if you need a way to keep rust at bay that looks good from six feet away.</p>",
