The whole organization was riddled with a production system which everyone criticized for being hard to use and slow.</p><p>As fairly new into this kind of responsibility, I took a day for each of the \"production posts\" and asked those who interacted with the existing system to teach and show me what they needed to do to do their job. I wanted to learn their pain-points.</p><p>The new system I put together with a great colleague tried as much as possible to streamline all the processes over the complete board.</p><p>The result ... 20+ colleagues in the production being quite happy. Production stress reduced. Their time spent behind the \"terminals\" they used was reduced by many minutes for each of their steps, with far more logical steps the system now guided them through. Which reduced error rates. And the production could easily scale up from 1-2 shifts to 3 shifts as \"domain expertise\" for their job was no longer critical. The system did the job.</p><p>The best part for me ... I no longer needed to listen to complaints about how horrendous the old system was. Colleagues ended up happier.</p><p>So ... interacting with your users is crucial!
