"content": "<p>It's nice to finally see <span class=\"h-card\" translate=\"no\"><a href=\"https://fosstodon.org/@kev\" class=\"u-url mention\">@<span>kev</span></a></span> and <span class=\"h-card\" translate=\"no\"><a href=\"https://fosstodon.org/@mike\" class=\"u-url mention\">@<span>mike</span></a></span> make statements about the drama that happened on <a href=\"https://infosec.exchange/tags/Fosstodon\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>Fosstodon</span></a> however, the sad part is to see that they are both likely stepping away. They will either shut the instance down completely or possibly let others take it over to keep it alive. </p><p>Regardless, there will be a lot of people that will end up needing/wanting to find a new instance to call home, and that's not a fun experience here on the <a href=\"https://infosec.exchange/tags/Fediverse\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>Fediverse</span></a> </p><p>With regards to them both stepping away, regardless of how it's done, I get it, totally. </p><p>I ran <a href=\"https://infosec.exchange/tags/AllThingsTech\" class=\"mention hashtag\" rel=\"tag\">#<span>AllThingsTech</span></a> along with <span class=\"h-card\" translate=\"no\"><a href=\"https://infosec.exchange/@beardedtechguy\" class=\"u-url mention\">@<span>beardedtechguy</span></a></span> and while it was a ton of fun at times, it was indeed a LOT of work, and it was quite costly, even as a small server with only a couple hundred users. I can't imagine the work and the costs associated with a server that has nearly 10,000 users and is almost 8 years old. </p><p>I certainly wish Kevin and Mike both the best of luck in whatever decision they make and I hope all of those that decide to move to another instance or may end up being forced to move to another instance are able to move without much hassle or issues.
