We call it ‘i’ (-i is also a square root of -1).</p><p>Traditionally, “imaginary” numbers are used with the “real” numbers to make “complex” numbers. The line of all “real” numbers is commonly represented as the X axis on a graph, and the line of all “imaginary” numbers is represented as the Y axis. A complex number is then just a point on this graph. This representation is useful for physics. It comes up all the time in radio design, for example.</p>",
