It was nothing like the television ads I remember.</p><p>For those of you who are the proverbial frogs in the proverbial pot, especially if you are someone who always has a TV running in the background, you may not have noticed the dramatic change. You should know that modern television ads really have ramped up the techniques for emotional manipulation, from their soundtracks to their cinematography. As I watched the ad, I was astounded at how blatant the attempts at manipulation were, and so much of what is wrong with US society suddenly made sense to me. </p><p>This experience validated for me the wisdom of my long-term avoidance of advertising. </p><p>Be free.
