"content": "<p>Wanda Sykes' line has one of the oldest free black people DNA ever found, according to the host of \"Finding Your Roots\": \"the only such case that I know of in which it is possible to trace a black family rooted in freedom from the late 17th century to the present.\"</p><p>The other guest, John Legend, who is only one year older than me (wow) had some ancestors who were freed when their owners freed them in their \"Final Will and Testament\" and some slave owners left them money and property. </p><p>And Legend's ancestor bought back his family -- younger kids and escaped North to Ohio. </p><p>But then some white supremacists came knocking at his house with an 🪓 in the middle of the night, shot the dad and ran off with the kids to sell them back into slavery in Kentucky. And the courts eventually ruled in their favor.
