An ‘unfortunate incident’ caused some Ubuntu 24.04.2 images to be built without the HWE kernel on board (Linux 6.11), Canonical’s Utkarsh Gupta reports. Since including a new kernel version is a key part of new point release media, it needs to be there. Building a new Ubuntu installer image is only one part of the task given that, once built, each ISO also needs to undergo testing.
