"content": "@realcaseyrollins It might be different if there were pipelines carrying water. No one can promise enough water to keep vulnerable areas from becoming too dry because there's no way to get that much water to California. I remind you that CA is the nation's 3rd largest (geographically) state. So don't take such offers seriously. No one, including President Biden and President Trump, cannot fulfill it. The only thing they could do is start a decades-long construction project to desalinate water from the Pacific and pipe it to specific portions of the wilderness. But good luck obtaining contiguous property rights and agency permits (\"Do you seriously mean I have to fill out an environmental impact statement for this viaduct that is intended to save the environment?\")

Now, part of the problem (and this is common to most western states) is that much of the state's mountain, desert, and forest land isn't under state control. The Dept of Interior (Nat'l Park Service & Bureau of Land Mgmt) and USDA (Nat'l Forest Service) control huge swathes of land and they too are not doing the prescribed burns that would clear out the deadwood in small areas. I'll use the Eaton Fire as an example. It started along the border of the Angeles National Forest in the San Gabriel Mountain foothills. All those cities I mentioned bicycling in earlier are located in and along those foothills -- the boundary between the mountains and the densely populated San Gabriel Valley. California (and those federal agencies) don't do those burns very often because they sometimes get out of control and wind up being costly and destructive.

People whose multimillion dollar homes get destroyed because an intentional burn got out of control wind up suing for large amounts of money. So even though I disagree with their decision, it *is* reasonable to stop doing preventive burns if the risk is larger than the agency's whole budget.

And THIS is why pollies in the Eastern US shouldn't be talking mess about a situation that they don't know anything about. It is a very complex situation with lots of complicating factors, and there is no easy answer. If there was an easy way out, it would have been done already. If Trump hasn't lived in the Greater Los Angeles Area for at least five years or at least listen to an advisor who has, he doesn't have the necessary background to make those statements. Think about your home state: there are probably important things going on there that someone from the other side of the country would not know about. Those things factor into what decisions get made. So when something happens (hurricane, fire, earthquake, flood, tornado ... whatever affects your state), and people in distant places tell you that you brought it on yourselves, they may be right, but they also don't understand why things were done that way ... why the supposedly logical response either isn't possible or isn't really logical.

That's also why CA Governor Gavin Newsom isn't qualified to comment on most of the decisions that DeSantis (FL) and Abbot (TX) make. He's far away from the situation and has no knowledge of those complicating factors. And likewise, neither of them is qualified to comment on most of the decisions that Newsom makes. Newsom is a total idiot, and according to a graphic that@p@fsebugoutzone.org posted, has incestuous ties to former California Governors Edmund Brown Sr and Edmund Brown Jr and certain financiers. But he does have some NorCal background (including former mayor of San Francisco) that gives him more relevant knowledge than a lifelong East Coast resident.

(As to why I'm qualified to comment: I lived in SoCal for several decades, including the San Gabriel Valley, the Los Angeles County \"South Bay\", and the Inland Empire and High Desert. As a 3rd grader I had to know enough to draw a map of the San Gabriel Mountains, the San Gabriel River, and the San Gabriel Valley. We also discussed the San Gabriel Mission, but did not have to build the now-required model of a California mission.

I was reading the SGV Tribune from cover to cover [except the entertainment and classified sections] from the time I was 10 until I moved to the High Desert. That's actually where much of my politics comes from. I chose the \"center\" when I was between 8 and 15 and have watched as the nation drifts leftward ... leaving a lot of those beliefs in the so-called right wing. I've actually adjusted some beliefs more leftward based on my experiences and those of my family and relatives. [Example: I believed what we were taught, that if you worked hard and were productive, you'd get raises and promotions. Experience shows that isn't necessarily true, but corporate asslickers always get raises and promotions. Thus, if we want a good economy and peaceful society, we have to ensure that even the \"minimum wage forever\" jobs pay enough so people have a shot at things like home ownership.]

My family used to visit Will Rogers State Park [in Pacific Palisades, next to Santa Monica, on the fringe of the Palisades Fire], a couple of places in Malibu [as of yesterday, under evacuation notices], and other places in the Palisades Fire affected area.

I also spend many weekends camping in the San Gabriel Mountains & Angeles National Forest [Eaton Fire] and San Bernardino Mountains & National Forest. One former best friend moved to Camp Williams and two other friends moved to Follows Camp, both locations in the San Gabriel Mountains and Angeles National Forest. So the whole area holds some special interest, despite me moving halfway across the country last year. Until I got a travelling job, \"go to the mountains or the beach for a day\" was an important part of dealing with Summer heat.)",

I got an offer on Monday! My current temporary job involves harassment, and when I pointed it out, I was told it was annoying and ended in November. I was fired. It's a famous smartphone game company. PHP work. The tech stack is also similar to GNU social. It's a big win. In my case, I couldn't get in unless I was a temporary worker. I held out... The temporary employment agency was pushing me to give an answer on the same day, which was a bit annoying, so I negotiated my hourly wage and got it increased from 2500 to 2600 yen. I've overcome the most difficult times in the last 1-2 years, so it's all downhill from here. In a few more years I'll be able to show my true colors. I haven't shown my true colors yet.
\n
\nIt's been 9 months since I announced the end of site updates in \"Notice: GNU social JP Web site updates will be stopped | GNU social JP Web\". It's been 4 months since I wrote \"Annual Report: Collars, Intentions, and Desires, and Doing Something Alone | GNU social JP Web\". A lot has happened in the meantime, but I've decided that I'm in a position to resume development work on GNU sociall, so I'm announcing this to commemorate the occasion. That time has finally come. It's been a long time.
\n
\nBackground
\n
\nI imposed the following two conditions on myself to resume development work.
\n
\nEstablish a stable PHP job.
\n
\nEnsure a stable income.
\n
\nI needed one of the above two points, or preferably both. Continuous development work requires a stable base. Know-how and money. Without at least one of them, it's impossible to continue.
\n
\nMoney is especially important, and with money, almost all problems in the world can be solved. The purpose of this site was to secure an income.
\n
\nHowever, since it is not so easy to earn passive income, I listed a stable PHP job as another condition. GNU social is a PHP project, so it is very important that it is PHP. Also, mastering PHP and having development experience will directly help with the development of GNU social. I was originally a C++ development engineer and was not very familiar with PHP, so this was important.
\n
\nSince updating the site, I have been working desperately on these two points.
\n
\nIn April, I was able to get a freelance PHP job, but I left after one month due to power harassment. After that, I had a hard time looking for a job, including hiring people with disabilities. After two months of searching, I started working as an in-house system engineer at JTC (Japanese Traditional Company) as a dispatched employee from July. However, as is typical of JTC, I had to endure days of harassment in the workplace.
\n
\nAnd then, in December, I got my dream job. This is also a dispatched job, but it is expected to be a very good workplace. It is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market and is a company that operates a social networking site with a longer history than GNU social. In my case, it is quite difficult to join as a full-time employee. As a temp worker, I was able to get a good job at a big company, and this was my goal. I never thought I would be able to get a job at a company like this in my life. The technology stack is also the old-fashioned LAMP, which is almost the same as GNU social.
\n
\nNow that I have the job, I will move on to the next phase. I will resume the development work that I had stopped. My regular working hours are 09:30-18:30, so I will use 06:00-09:30 before going to work, and until 08:00 before starting remote work, and the first 1-3 hours after waking up just for GNU social. This will allow me to secure at least a little time for GNU social every day.
\n
\nAfter that, I will also work on securing the second source of income in parallel. If both 1 and 2 are achieved, I have practically won. I can rebuild it on my own. Time is everything.
\n
\nConclusion
\n
\nThis was an announcement that development will resume. For the time being, I will work on the mundane base work described in \"Announcement: GNU social JP Web site updates will be suspended | GNU social JP Web\".
\n
\nSelf-hosting the repository.
\nPreparation of the deployment environment with Docker.
\n
\nUpdate of HTTP client.
\n
\nI will work on preparing the base in this order. I think it will take 2-3 months.
\n
\nThis year has been a difficult one for work, site management, and real estate management. It's a terrible life. However, I think those days were a process to reach this job. I feel that I had a year for this day, and two years since I started my activities. This is why I discovered my disability, and researched sleeping pills and supplements to deal with my sleep disorder. I will make full use of these and get up every morning to make time.
\n
\nToday is my first day of work. I haven't started yet, so there is a possibility that I will be harassed again. I hope that this is not the case, and I will wait with excitement and excitement for what kind of world awaits me.
\n
\nIt's all about what you do. I will steadily move forward according to my plan.",

I hope we're not there yet, despite the many risks. there aren't many other planets to escape to.",

XMPP is compatible with many kinds of devices, and it doesn't require a tracking device loaded with spyware to set up an account\nGNU Jami is even better: it is compatible with all major operating systems, you can create accounts anonymously, and your messages are not hosted in a central server, or any server: it's peer to peer, and message delivery only occurs when both parties are online, directly from one to the other, with end-to-end encryption\nI believe Tox and Briar are like that as well, but I'm not so sure",

Large scale technology, interoperability standards, roads, economies of scale .. they all depend on States. A small nation of anarchists are not going to maintain roads, and they certainly aren't going to build airports.

I stand by my previous statement about libertarians and a child's understanding of the world ... and that's okay. That's even good. We need more people with child-like faith. That gives us hope for a better future. You keep doing you and spreading your message. It'll just be tempered by all the realists and pragmatic people in the world, who will continue to spoon feed you and the commies at the kiddie table while the adults do their thing.",

"name": "It is important for parents to understand the changing cultural shifts. Girls are becoming more sexually aggressive. Many fathers reported that this shift will make it easier for their sons. Not according to the boys interviewed. Most of them claimed they are confused by the saturation of sex in society and yearn for a return of romance. The majority of them wished that girls would go back to being more lady-like so they could go back to being more gentlemanly. It's not healthy to assume boys are basking in the joy of easy to get sex. Nor is it healthy to assume all boys can't wait to shed their virginity to just any girl. We need to teach our children to respect themselves and each other. That means we stop believing that male virgins are weirdos we should ridicule and we teach our daughters that collecting V-Cards can be emotionally damaging to a boy.",
