The distinctive flavors: tomato and coconut milk. I’m embarrassed to admit I found this recipe not on an authentic Indian source (of which I now have many), but on AllRecipes. It’s named Best Dal Ever. And friends, at this time in my process, it really WAS. And still is considered fantastic. This link is to the original recipe creator’s site. BTW I don’t like the spinach in here.
