McNeil 2017年的案例，稱其因悼念恐怖分子而被判監禁20年。不過，傳真社翻查該案文件，發現控罪內容與悼念恐怖分子無關，有關引述有誤導之嫌。</p><p>《大公報》「妍之有理」專欄首先於7月4日刊登專欄作家屈穎妍的文章，題為「一個祝福，斷送20年青春」，文章稱「麥可尼爾 (McNeil) 完全沒有行動，他只是轉發、只是慶祝、只是悼念，連行去世貿遺址獻束花的機會都沒有。他只是給拉登一個祝福，就斷送了20年青春。」</p><p>不過，傳真社翻查McNeil一案逾10份法庭文件，當中詳盡記錄了McNeil在社交媒體發表的涉案言論及相片，均沒有他悼念拉登的描述，亦沒有提及屈穎妍所指McNeil發布的「快樂9/11」言論。</p><p>除屈穎妍的文章外，《大公報》及《東方日報》的報道，以及在《頭條日報》及巴士的報刊登的專欄文章其後亦有引用McNeil一案。</p>",
