Theodore Roosevelt… By the same token, you think of the old west and the US Civil War and the rest of the 1800s in sepia tones. President Lincoln? </p><p>These times weren't B&W or sepia toned. Actual color pictures like this one ( not colorized) from 1913 prove it. It's revelatory if you give yourself a few moments to think about it.</p><p>This is how your mental context "colors" your conceptions of events. Depending on the emotions you apply to those preconceptions, you end up with prejudice. This is how the human mind works, for good or bad.
