In a real sense, I have a new eye. I look at things, and can see them clearly, something that hasn't happened in decades. I fixed my congenital myopia with Lasix surgery long ago, but people and eyes age. Now, anything that I can touch short of arm's length to about 10 feet is clear. I can read naturally again; watch TV; see people's expressions. Without glasses. For many years, road signs and distant writing was also clear, but this new eyesight… This was worth the effort. It feels weird, though. Good. But weird. Uncanny valley, weird. I am now getting into the routine, building the reflex, where I just have to move my face or step back, and I can see it.
