I'm fairly picky about that and I try to curate my followership as much as is possible on here.</p><h2>What makes your follow request more likely to be accepted:</h2><ul><li>friend of friends (shoot me a DM if we know each other off-site)</li><li>queer, neurodivergent, disabled — in other words, like me</li><li>visible, outspoken allyship (pronouns in bio is a good start but not enough)</li><li>coming from a well-moderated instance</li></ul><h2>What makes your follow request less likely to be accepted:</h2><ul><li>little or no CWs or alt text</li><li>coming from an undermoderated instance (incl. ones with few / no explicit protections for marginalised people: just \"don't say anything illegal\" isn't enough)</li><li>not reading these pinned posts</li><li>huge account / influencer / public figure</li></ul><h2>What will get your follow request rejected immediately:</h2><ul><li>empty profile</li><li>bot</li><li>we have never interacted</li><li>coming from an unmoderated instance / right-wing instance / instance that federates with right-wing instances</li></ul><p>If I just accepted your follow request: welcome! If I didn't: don't take it personal.</p><p>(P.S: \"Undermoderated instance\" includes the flagships (.social and .online)</p><h1>Next: A Word About Boosts</h1><p>I noticed a lot of people put something like this on their profile and some/many people ask if boosting something is okay, so here's how I handle it for my own posts.</p><p>If a post is <strong>public</strong> (little globe icon), it's okay to boost, and in fact I'm probably encouraging you to boost it. Public posts are ones I want to be seen.</p><p>If a post is <strong>unlisted</strong> (open lock icon), it's <em>probably</em> okay to boost it or at least not a problem if you do, but use your best judgement (for instance, if it's part of a semi-public convo, may expose someone's personal post to a larger audience than intended, doesn't make sense out of context, then maybe don't).</p><p>And if it's <strong>followers-only</strong> then you literally can't boost it so… duh🤷♀️</p>",
