"content": "
Hi, everyone!

I’m Fan Wu, but you can call me Wifi. I’m an undergraduate student from the School of Remote Sensing and Information Engineering, Wuhan University, China, majoring in Spatial Information and Digital Technology.

Why I Want to Join This Project

I learned about this project through the GSoc program, and I’m excited to participate in the 2025 GSoc.

Although I’ve gained many development skills in my classes, most of them are only applied to completing assignments, which feels repetitive and uninspiring. I believe contributing to an open-source project is meaningful and even romantic.

My major aligns well with this project, and I’ve heard from upperclassmen that this community is inclusive and supportive.

My Skills

Here’s a list of my skills (I’ve included everything I could think of because I’m not sure which ones are most relevant ):

I am proficient in using tools and frameworks like GDAL, PostGIS, OpenLayers, GeoServer, SpringBoot, MyBatis, and MongoDB to develop WebGIS applications.

I frequently use shell scripting in Linux to solve system problems and automate repetitive tasks—I find script programming incredibly cool!

I am experienced in using Git for version control and can manage team projects in a standardized way.

I have a basic understanding of geographic algorithms like Dijkstra and Floyd, which I learned during my studies.

I am comfortable using C++ to solve algorithmic problems. For example, I once developed a (very simple ) flight reservation system. I also know how to use OpenGL in C++ to render DEM data and apply textures.

I am familiar with geographic data formats, such as SHP and GeoJSON for vector data, and GeoTIFF for raster data. I also know how to use Python for analyzing these data formats.

Discuss this on our forum.",
