"content": "<p>I am seriously angry and creeped out by Meta right now. I was having a conversation with my daughter a couple of days ago regarding the brand of skin care product she uses. We only discussed it verbally and I have not done any sort of search or anything on the brand online. </p><p>Today, I saw an ad on my Facebook feed for *that specific brand* of skin care product. I do have Facebook and Messenger apps installed on my iOS devices, but they have no permissions to the microphone or to any other apps. </p><p>Clearly there is some sort of 1) audio surveillance, 2) digital fingerprinting, and 3) data being shared with Meta without my knowledge or permission. </p><p>I try my best to block all paths to digital surveillance and yet this happens. I don’t have many apps that have access to my microphone on my devices. Clearly one (or more) of them are spying on me for Meta. Is it Siri? Is it Google Voice? Maybe WhatsApp, though I thought I had the microphone turned off for it.</p><p>Right now, I want to smash all my digital devices with a hammer and then throw them into the sea.
