The request was that I take on 90% of the responsibilities of my colleague, who decamped a few months ago for a more focused position at a much larger university.</p><p>I suggested the university just hire a replacement tenure-track position instead of trying to pile even more work on those of us that remain.</p><p>I'm pretty sure their end-game was to show that the position isn't really necessary and never replace it. I'm not going to play that game.</p>",
