That and a couple of other stims within the context of the Blindness Community are called Blindisms, and you wouldn’t believe how badly blind people rip the hell out of each other trying to make sure no one in the community rocks, hand-flaps or anything else that doesn’t make us sight-normative as possible.</p><p>Having said that though, I now think that a lot of it actually has to do with me being possibly Autistic though I’ve never been diagnosed nor suspected of being as such. I’ve come to think I am, but am not out to too many people about it.</p><p>As to your situation, you have to do what feels right for you, though I will say that there comes a point when one has to not worry about what Abods think. That’s my term I came up with which is short for Able-Bodied. When it’s all said and done, the Abods will never be satisfied. If they can’t deal with you being Autistic and if you mask, then the Abods will find something else to be pissed about.</p><p>With me, if people around me wouldn’t be able to deal with me telling them that I might be Autistic, then they will continue to be Ableist because of my Blindness, and if not that then they’ll have issues due to me having my prosthetic leg. Should none of those apply, then there will be the ones who don’t like the fact that I’m Gay/Pan/Non-Binary. The Abods will never be happy, and I can say only for myself that I don’t even try to fit in at this point. I didn’t ever force myself to be what they think of as normal, but I did try to keep in mind some of what they’d probably say, but fuck that. I’m totally over that Bullshit these days. However, I do know that this isn’t always an option for others in similar situations. I do hope you come to a solution with this that works for you. You have my support.</p>",
