For writing something for public publication (a novel, campaign, sourcebook, etc), it's maybe a little stickier. Every writer draws from their favourite works, but direct copy-and-paste would often be unseemly (and in some cases genuine copyright infringement). Dragons as the creators of the universe sounds pretty cool!</p>",
