"content": "<p><span class=\"h-card\" translate=\"no\"><a href=\"https://mas.to/@tezoatlipoca\" class=\"u-url mention\">@<span>tezoatlipoca</span></a></span> exactly! </p><p>This whole mess defies comprehension.</p><p>Just thinking out loud here, but ...</p><p>If the situation was distilled down to simplify the concept such that we're talking about a large island that has 7 counties, each with only one of the following natural resources in abundance: <br />- fresh water<br />- prime agricultural land<br />- dirt land - can't grow much of anything<br />- sand<br />- gravel<br />- rock <br />- forests</p><p>Each county would have their own municipal government / budget and the island government has its own budget.</p><p>Government responsibilities are clearly defined and do not overlap.</p><p>Sustainability is at the core of all policies.</p><p>It 'seems' readily apparent that each county would exchange necessary resources with it's neighbours.</p><p>What would they NOT do? Probably things like:<br />- do not destroy farm land<br />- do not contaminate the water<br />- do not clear cut the forest </p><p>Homes and factories would probably be built on dirt or rock away from each other and all counties would share in the industrial taxes.
